What we do…

Family Care Connection provides education, resources, counseling, and advocacy that promotes responsible parenting, strengthens self-worth and safety within familial relationships. 

Our Services

  • FCC’s Parent education program (Family Services) provides free classes to parents of children 0-18 months of age. Classes focus on enhancing parenting practices and behaviors, developing and practicing positive discipline techniques, learning age-appropriate child development skills and milestones, promoting positive bonding through baby massage, materials assistance and accessing community services and supports. In addition, FS provides workshops such as “Car Seat Safety”, “Emotional, Physical and Financial Wellness”, “Nutrition and Healthy Eating”, “Stress Management” and “Healthy Relationships”. Ancillary Services include Baby Massage, Car Seat distribution (upon completion of a Cars Seat Safety Class), Annual Domestic Brunch or event, Annual Coat Drive for children, Christmas Toy Drive, Women’s SPA Day, Annual event for fathers only.

    Family Services’ Prenatal Education program helps prepare parents who are expecting the birth of a baby. The program familiarizes the expectant parents with the main events that will occur during pregnancy and the birthing process. Our prenatal classes provide information about birth, breastfeeding, pregnancy, and the transition into parenthood. Parents also receive information about newborn care. In addition, FS provides baby massage, “Purple Crying” and “Shaken Baby”. Parents receive diapers, other baby essentials and car seats (upon completion of car seat class).

  • H.O.P.E.S Program (Healthy Outcomes Through Prevention & Early Support) seeks to strengthen the family unit and prevent child abuse and neglect. The HOPES program provides services to pregnant and parenting parents with children 0-3 years of age, primarily living in zip codes 75208, 75212, 75211, and 75215. Depending upon availability, other zip codes can be considered. The HOPES program provides in-home visitation, parenting education, developmental screenings, family support and referral services. This program seeks to increase the parent’s knowledge of early child development.

  • Support services include case management, doula services, car seat training, referral services and material assistance.

  • Mental health counselors work with FCC clients to establish goals and develop approaches to address emotional issues, shore up skills in coping and communication, improve self-esteem, promote changes in behavior, and strive for improved mental well-being.

  • Domestic violence services include community education, counseling, and advocacy for victims and survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, and sexual assault.
